"A hero, that's what you once were. You stood boldly against the Shadow and purchased another dawn for the world... with your life. But the evil you fought is not so easily banished; the victory you claimed, not so easily held. For now, the specter of death looms over the world yet again and it has found new champions to bring about its final reign. Knights of darkness, wielding runes of death and destruction, bound by the will of the Lich King. This is the hour of their ascension! This is the hour of your dark rebirth..."

Sae was born a Night Elf, an ancient race of elves that pray to the moon goddess Elune and seek to maintain nature's balance.
In life, Sae was a hero, fighting alongside Night Elves, Humans, and other allied races. She has contributed in the fight to save the world on more than one occasion.
On one of those occasions, Sae was struck down by a seemingly endless army of undead. She was then raised by her enemy, the Lich King, and was forced to turn against her fellow man.
Now free of his control, Sae's main motivation is to use the dark power that was given to her to destroy all evil in the world.
Sae is undead: her skin is cold to the touch, she does not bleed, breathe, or blink, her body remains constantly still.
When raised by the Lich King, she was forced to slaughter innocents/do a lot of awful things. Therefore, many do not trust Death Knights and have an inherent dislike of them.
While no longer under the Lich King's control, she still suffers from the "Endless Hunger". Meaning, Sae must regularly inflict pain and suffering onto others, lest she go mad. She tries to limit her targets to criminals and animals, along with whatever destructive force she happens to be fighting at the time.
Sae is an incredibly skillful fighter, with power to boot; engage at your own risk!
Sae cannot die, but her body can be destroyed.
Sae is weak to fire and holy magic. ( Holy magic can heal her, but it is an incredibly painful process. )
Sae's voice has a creepy echo/reverb effect to it. See here.
More to come!

BEFORE

Saelyrasia Thundermoon was born and raised amid the forests of Mt. Hyjal; rough and feral in her youth, she constantly bested children who favored games of battle, graduating from sticks to swords as soon as she could. While some of her kind channeled their connection with nature through the druidic arts or the thrill of the hunt, Sae did so in recognizing her own animal. Dreams of battle and glory fascinated her young mind, and she was rarely seen without a weapon in her hand. When the elders told stories of the suffering that befell the Kaldorei during the War of the Ancients -- she listened, and she listened well. The Sentinels were ever in need of able women to protect their people, and her fate had been tied to their cause since she'd first laid eyes upon them.

As she aged nearer her adult years, she distanced herself from the circle of friends she'd made in her youth. Sae cared for those close to her, but anxious to prove herself a worthy recruit, she remained focused wholeheartedly on her ambitions. However, there was one boy who followed no matter how quickly she ran. Her whole life, she had been oblivious to his advances; a blacksmith’s apprentice, he was the first to put a sword in her hand. As he grew and honed his skills in the trade, he suited her with plate. Sae had always been rather independent and never considered herself partial to romance. Rarely did her pride allow her to seek the help of others, but when it did -- he was always there. It wasn't until the ceremony, when she received her rites of passage and became a woman in the eyes of her people, that she came to realize those dormant feelings. So many were in attendance that day, but when she saw his face there in the crowd, she knew he was the only one she wanted. He was right beside her, just like he'd always been.

The next few months were a blur of honeymooning and romance, distracting her from the ambition to which she'd been so closely tied. Eventually, though, her training began, and again she was pulled away. So, he took a step back. In the years to follow, she proved herself a valuable member of the Sentinel’s infantry; there were few who took their training as seriously as she. Even when off duty, Sae was constantly training and running drills, determined to be unmatched in her swordsmanship. Many found this aspect of her personality overbearing, but none lamented her presence when fighting by her side. When the third war began, she was finally able to put her training to the test. First, Sae manned the front line against the orcs, but their true enemy proved itself to be far greater than the green skins could ever hope to be. Up until the bitter end, at the Battle of Mount Hyjal, Sae fought valiantly. Out on the battlefield with humans and orcs at her side, she had never felt more at home. Her whole life, she had been training for this, and once the battle ended, she knew she could not stop there.

Victory at Hyjal cost her people their immortality, but Sae’s mind was made up. Death did not scare her, and having seen the legion firsthand, she knew her life would be best served fighting those evils that sought to destroy the world as they knew it. She longed to see more of azeroth, to learn more about the strange beings that had come to her people’s aid. When she returned home, her love had come to a different conclusion in the wake of their mortality. The slow-growing relationship that they had fostered for so long did not seem to be enough; he wished to marry her as soon as possible. Sae understood, but enthralled by her battles, the glory of those to come, and the chance to end the legion once and for all, she now looked to the world beyond. She told him she had to go. She promised when she returned, they would be wed. He told her this was the last time he'd be kept waiting.

She resigned her position with the Sentinels, unwilling to age into a higher ranking. With the destruction of Nordrassil, who knew how long their lives would span? So, Sae travelled East, seeing for herself just how great the damage had been. After witnessing what remained of Lordaeron, she decided to join the Argent Dawn. From there, her service in Outland earned her the rank of Lieutenant. And when she was asked to leave her post to help defend against Scourge forces in the Plaguelands, so she did so without hesitation, without fear. From the moment she arrived, the combat was brutal. They fought like hell, gaining very little ground for the cost of lives lost. It was then she was sent out with a group of men to secure an area of higher ground. The task seemed simple enough, as the area remained largely untouched by scourge forces. The small group of them were taken down with ease, and her mission was all but completed. Then came more, and more, and more -- quickly, they were overwhelmed by hordes of undead, who seemed infinite in number. A blade pierced her sideways through the ribcage, clean through to the other side.

The last thing she felt was the cold.

DURING

When Sae awoke, the voice she heard in her head was not her own. Through her lifeless body, the cold echo rang -- The Lich King. Her enemy now became her master. He told her that he'd gifted her this second chance at life, so she might carry out his will -- kill all who oppose the might of the scourge. Right then, his words made perfect sense, as if she had been born to die and be reborn, as if she was created for this very purpose. The first thing she felt was anger -- not how foreign and cold her body felt, not her still heart, not joy in the fact she'd opened her eyes. She was not there anymore. Whoever she was had died, replaced by a servant of the scourge.

Upon the forging of her first runeblade, she was ordered, just like the others, to kill an initiate that had been deemed unworthy. Soldiers who'd fought by her side, innocents brought in from other conquests -- she had her pick of the pack. It was their life or hers. She picked a human male who fought beside her in Outland, allowed him to don his armor and his weapon, and then they fought. She won. She killed him, and she enjoyed it.

Yet, her hunger was not satisfied. His suffering was merely a taste of all the damage she was capable of in the Lich King's service. This was her higher cause. In the weeks to follow, she carried out her orders dutifully, slaughtering her old allies and innocents alike -- anyone who was unfortunate enough to stand in her way. The orders she took without question, though as their conquests neared their most important mission at Light's Hope, whispers of doubt began to creep into her head. When she was not incapacitated by arthas' commands, this voice grew stronger. Some part of her knew just how depraved her actions were, but she could not bring herself to stop. Even in the moments where she believed she could, her instinct could not allow her to face the consequences that came with disobedience.

So, she remained loyal, up until her final battle under his service. At Light's Hope, she and the others learned the plan to overtake the chapel had not been the plan at all. They were sent to be annihilated, the glorious battle they'd been preparing for no more than a ruse to draw out the paladin Tirion Fordring. When the Highlord broke free of the Lich King's grasp, so too did the rest of the Death Knights. No magic was stronger than the truth that had been revealed to them.

AFTER

Immediately following the battle for Light's Hope, Sae focused all of her energy on taking down the Lich King. Without the promise of vengeance to keep her going, her demise was a near certainty. The life which had been stolen from her was gone for good, all she could do in the wake of her damnation was keep pushing forward. Even when he fell, death seemed too merciful a release. After all the damage she caused, she did not feel she deserved to be put out of her misery. No mercy for the merciless. She had seen life on both sides, had been given runic power that could devastate her enemies just as well as they'd devastated the lives of so many innocents.

Let those with lives and families live as best they could, far from the horrors of war. She had nothing left but an insatiable sadism, her existence a meager price for those still living to do so in peace.
